Newaygo Brewing Co. Taproom Manager
Job Description and Responsibilities

Job Overview

The Newaygo Brewing Co. Taproom Manager is a hospitality specialist with a passion for craft food, beer, and growing community.  They are problem solvers with a strong work ethic and leadership skills. The Taproom Manager understands that customer service always takes priority but efficient and consistent restaurant operations make it possible. They are an experienced leader with a goal to grow in the industry, especially with Newaygo Brewing Co. The Taproom Manager works alongside the Kitchen Executive Chef, assistant managers, and owners to train and retain great staff, implement operational changes, and ensure every guests leaves satisfied.

 

General Responsibilities

Identify and delegate responsibilities to shift leaders and staff to ensure objectives are met and excellent service is consistently achieved
­Effectively manage taproom labor
­Implement new company policies and procedures by developing plans and instructing staff
­Provide direction to shift leaders, and staff to achieve restaurant goals
Consistently review operations and staff to identify any problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement
­Provide coaching and feedback to managers and staff and assess performance on an ongoing basis
Create a positive guest experience by delivering a high level of service and ensuring all staff engage guests to understand their needs and exceed expectations
­Consistently monitor product and labor costs to remain within goals
­Follow the Newaygo Brewing Co policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety/security
­Assist in new menu implementation
­Develop and implement creative solutions to areas of improvement
­Assist in conducting staff and daily pre-­shift meetings

Job Qualifications

Experience/ Knowledge: At least two years experience at or above level of Restaurant
Assistant Manager. Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.
Skills/Aptitudes: Professional communication skills are required. Ability to take direction.
Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
Must have problem solving abilities, be self­-motivated and organized. Commitment to quality service, and food and beverage knowledge.
License/Qualifications: Food safety training provided by Newaygo Brewing Co. Must be able to work nights, weekends and some holidays. Must be able to speak, read and understand basic cooking directions.

The Assistant kitchen Manager understands that customer service is a priority but efficient restaurant operations make it possible. They are an experienced leader with a goal to move up in the industry, especially with Newaygo Brewing Co. The Assistant Kitchen manager will work alongside the Taproom manager to oversee the cook and serving staff.

 

General Responsibilities

Job Overview

The role of a line cook is to prepare culinary delights for our guests. Guest satisfaction in our restaurant revolves around the food appearance, high quality of the food, and overall dining experience. The line cook is responsible for the daily preparation of food items in the pantry, prep tables, or other areas of the kitchen. Cooks will take direction from the Taproom Manager or other kitchen manager and prepare, by order, consistent food items. Also, all of Newaygo Brewing Co’s employees will be expected to complete regular training and certification in safe alcohol service, food safety, commercial beer production, offsite beer catering service, and more.

General Responsibilities
  • Set up station according to restaurant guidelines.
  • Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner.
  • Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the restaurant.
  • Restock all items as needed throughout the shift.
  • Clean and maintain station while practicing exceptional safety, sanitation and organizational skills.
  • Has understanding and knowledge of how to properly use and maintain all equipment in the station.
  • Assist with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, walkin coolers and all storage areas.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested by the Kitchen Manager at any time.

Job Overview

The purpose of this position is to interact with our guests and ensure they have a great experience when dining in Newaygo Brewing Co’s taproom. Taproom Servers are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner. At all times, servers are expected to be attentive to our guest needs and make them feel welcome, comfortable, important, and relaxed. Servers are expected to have some basic cooking knowledge and general knowledge of craft beer. Servers will also fill a variety of other restaurant related tasks from time to time including, clearing tables, cleaning, pouring drinks, and assisting other servers and bartenders. Also, all of Newaygo Brewing Co’s employees will be expected to complete regular training and certification in safe alcohol service, food safety, commercial beer production, offsite beer catering service, and more.

General Responsibilities
  • Prepare the tables, lay out napkins and utensils, make sure the condiments are refilled, perform all other preparation tasks.
  • Stay updated on current menu choices, specialties and menu deviations, know if the kitchen staff is running out of any items…etc.
  • Handle the table bookings, direct customers to their tables, present menus, suggest dishes, assist in drink selection and beer education, informing customers about food preparation details, communicating specific customer needs to the cooks.
  • Maintain proper dining experience, deliver items, fulfill customer needs, offer desserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses.
  • Obtain revenues, issue receipts, accept payments, return the change.
  • Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.
  • Fill in for absent staff as needed.
  • Assist with special events as needed.
  • Greet all guests and owners warmly with an appropriate greeting.
  • Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
  • Understand and communicate products and services available at Newaygo Brewing Co.
  • Must have some familiarity with basic cooking skills.
Job Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience: Previous serving experience preferred. Excellent oral communication skills required. Positive interpersonal skills required. Must speak English fluently and be able to write in basic English.

License/Qualifications: Safe Alcohol Service (TIPS) Training will be provided by Newaygo Brewing Co.
