Don’t let the color fool you, Steelhead is a light, easy-drinking beer with just a touch of malt complexity from the caramel malts and a hint of roasted barley. We keep the bitterness low to ensure balance and an extremely drinkable beer. Caramel malts are varieties of malted barley which have been heated at low temps to achieve “caramelized” flavors ranging from toast to molasses. Lightly kilned malts, like the kinds used in Steelhead Irish Red, add a nice reddish hue and some toffee like sweetness.
